This is One of Those Times!
#95 - 0--spud--This is One of Those Times!--2008-04-23 06:22:50
#Every once in a while I come across something that is just down
right despicable. Even though I try to approach my writing with tact,
an open mind, and reasoned discourse, occasionally, there comes a
moment in time when I feel led to write more directly and forcefully.
This is one of those times! As Americans, we are watching our
beliefs being hammered away, one blow at a time. The inalienable
rights given to us from our founding fathers are being removed in the
name of safety and security. Our religious beliefs are being
challenged on a daily basis while judges are being required to remove
the Ten Commandments from their office walls. And then you
stumble upon a news article and you freeze. In the breaking news
section at World Net Daily, while I was skimming the article titles to
see what I wanted to read, my eyes landed
on two words, simultaneously. Jesus and gay. I read it a second time
to make sure I hadn't read it wrong, and sure enough there it was.
This is the actual title that had caught my attention:
Obama adviser gets laughs from 'gay' Jesus. I now
had to read the article for two reasons. One, I realized that Obama has surrounded himself with, yet,
another individual who was attacking some aspect of America that
we the people
cherish and revere, with total disregard. Second, I still couldn't
believe what I was reading was as bad as I surmised or that the article
seemed to be inferring. (I guess I'm not as jaded as most - I still
believe in goodness).
World Net Daily explains the despicable act perpetrated by one of Obama's campaigning supporters and friends by saying,
Larry
Lessig is shown at a 2006 seminar for Google employees introducing a
clip that depicts an effeminate Jesus singing Gloria Gaynor's "I Will
Survive." The Jesus figure throws off his robe, revealing a diaper-like
covering, and eventually is run over by a bus as he sashays through
city streets, reports Erick Erickson of the blogsite RedState.
I scrolled down and watched the
youtube video
still not able to wrap my brain around someone making a video that
depicts Jesus Christ as a homosexual. In a thong, no less! Sure enough
there it was. Jesus being depicted as a homosexual singing the popular
song "I Will Survive" and running around in a diaper/thong-like
underwear! If that isn't enough, Lessing makes this comment to his class just before he shows the
video.
"This
is a little bit touchy to some people. I don't get it, so just chill.
The underlying message here is that Jesus does survive."
The
very first thought that went through my mind was what would the
reaction have been if this had depicted Allah? I probably don't have
to tell you, do I? There would have been an uproar so loud Obama would
have been shaking in his boots. Add to that the avalanche of death
threats that would have been lodged at Lessing and Obama and we would
have quite a sizzling brew of
angry people.
And rightly so.
My second thought was, "
Just chill!" I don't think so! Lessing may "
not get it" but I do! That deplorable depiction is of
my Lord and Savior. That would be similar to Lessing doing a video of my daughter as a prostitute dancing to NSync! I would be
outraged and
justifiably so! My guess is that most Americans would be also! So why
is it okay to blaspheme the One who gave His life so that I might have
eternal life? Just what will this accomplish when all is said and done?
One
more thing. Perhaps even more importantly, what does this say about
Barack Obama? Is a man who seems to continually surround himself with
individuals whose character are questionable at best, really best
suited to be the President of the United States? For this author,
absolutely
not! In order to be qualified to be President, one
must be able to respect the world views concerning life, family, and
faith of each and every American. Obama seems unable, even unwilling
to do so.
In addition, this isn't the only incident Obama has been tied to directly or indirectly. As Mike Huckabee says in his book,
Character Makes A Difference,
"character matters." That character will be tested every single day in
the Oval Office and it will take someone of strong, unflinching
character to guide America through the difficulties that lay ahead to a
better day.
According to World Net Daily who were citing Erickson's post, Warner Todd Huston of the blogsite
Newsbusters said Lessig is
"another
close Obama supporter and adviser that seems to hate the things that
the average American holds dear. The list of America hating Obama
associates is getting longer every day, and now we can add a Christian
hating, communist to that list."
It
is time for those of us who believe that character matters and that an
individual's faith should be respected and protected, to use the power
endowed to us by our Founding Fathers and vote for anyone other than
Barack Obama. As Huston so eloquently stated,
"It's
really hard to believe that any real American can support a man for
president of the United States of America who surrounds himself with
people who so hate this country and all it stands for."
And I agree. This is one of those times! Let's stand together and defend all that
we the people cherish
and hold dear in this country that was paid for by the blood of our
forefathers. Let us come together and stand for what is right and what
is good. Let us come together and vote for someone
other that Barack Obama for President.
